Own-rooted. The vine that needs no foreign root system, growing directly from its own feet in soil it has known for decades.
Pie franco — ungrafted vines — are one of wine's most sacred subjects. After phylloxera devastated European viticulture in the late 19th century, virtually every vineyard was replanted on American rootstock. The few surviving own-rooted plots (Canary Islands, pre-phylloxera Chile, certain sandy European soils) produce wines of unusual directness and terroir transparency that grafted vines can approach but rarely equal. The Own-Rooted Snapback is for the wine collector who knows what was lost and where it still survives. Structured 6-panel, 85% acrylic/15% wool, grey under visor.
Head circumference 22″–24″. A wine history collector snapback. Equip accordingly.
