Producer
Eric Rodez is a former cellarmaster at Krug who returned to his family's Grand Cru vineyards in Ambonnay to make wine his way. His approach combines Krug-level precision with a grower's intimacy with specific terroir. He is widely regarded as one of the most serious winemakers in Champagne.
🌅 Dawn· 🌘 Dusk
Dawn primary — a former Krug cellarmaster applying that level of precision and craft to his own Grand Cru vineyards is the definition of Dawn energy. Stone secondary — Grand Cru Ambonnay delivers the concentrated, saline mineral character that makes Rodez's Pinot Noir Champagnes so distinctive.
Tasting note
Pure Pinot Noir from Grand Cru Ambonnay, largely oak-fermented with most wines avoiding malolactic fermentation. Creamy with oatmeal on the nose, then a rich, salty-soy palate with caramelized apple. 93pts Vinous. This is Champagne for people who think they don't like Champagne.

93 points Vinous
"The NV Extra Brut Blanc de Noirs is a pure Pinot Noir largely fermented in oak with most of the wines having avoided malolactic fermentation. Creaminess and creamy oatmeal surround slight hints of plum on the nose. The rich and concentrated palate, with salty soy edges and caramelized apple, makes for intense savoriness. With Pinot-structure and undoubted power, this is nonetheless elegant and poised with bright, fine acidity. Flavors echo long and freshness simply lasts on this clear-cut, bold yet elegant wine."
