Louis Dressner Selections is one of the great importing companies in American wine — their portfolio represents some of the most important natural and traditionally-farmed producers in France and Italy. Finding Dressner wines at any discount is genuinely unusual.
🌿 Garden· ✨ Mystic
Garden primary — both wines carry the earthy, alive character of naturally-farmed wines from producers who let the vineyard do the talking. Mystic secondary — Dressner's portfolio consistently selects producers whose wines have an unusual, transformative quality that goes beyond textbook regional expression.
Tasting note
Two bottles each of 2015 Fongoli Montefalco Sagrantino and 2020 Domaine de Bellivière L'Effraie Coteaux du Loir Chenin Blanc. Acquired at steep discount from Louis Dressner's importer portfolio and priced accordingly. Both drink beautifully. This is a two-for-one education in Italian and Loire natural wine.

Includes two bottlles each of

2015 Fongoli Montefalco Sagrantino

2020 Domaine de Belliviere L’Effraie Coteaux du Loir Chenin Blanc

Fongoli

93pts Vinous:The 2015 Montefalco Sagrantino opens slowly in the glass, as dusty red florals and crushed stone evolve into sour cherry and hints of blood orange. This is like pure juice on the palate, yet with the depth and intensity of Sagrantino. Masses of ripe wild berries and depths of minerality form under an air of purple-tinged florals. A resonance of chalk dust and pretty rose lingers, while the 2015 finishes lightly structured and with a hint of hard candies that lingers on and on.

100% Sagrantino. From biodynamically farmed, hand-harvested estate fruit. The younger vines of about 15 years old go into this traditional Sagrantino (the oldest vines go into the Fracaton bottling). Fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts, a bare touch of sulfur and no temperature control in vat. The maceration is around 30 days. The wine is aged for a minimum of 5 years in old Slavonian oak botti. It is bottled without fining, filtering or additional sulfur. 2015 is still the current release as of summer 2022

Belliviere

92WS: A lush, enticing style, with generous juicy pear, persimmon and kumquat flavors laced up with zesty, bitter citrus peel. Slightly chewy in texture, this is full and long, with a mineral core and dry finish, despite the wooly richness. Drink now through 2030. 360 cases made, 80 cases imported.
