Gonon Saint-Joseph Vertical
The defining voice of Saint-Joseph. Six vintages.

Producer
Pierre Gonon farmed the best slopes of Mauves, in the very heart of the Saint-Joseph appellation — historically the birthplace of the region's reputation. In 1988 he handed the estate to his sons Jean and Pierre, who have since earned a unanimous reputation as the domaine of Saint-Joseph. Their wines are among the most sought-after in the Northern Rhône and production is tiny.
🌘 Dusk·
🪨 Stone
Dusk primary — Gonon's Saint-Joseph carries the density and brooding presence of great Northern Rhône Syrah. Dark fruit, smoked meats, iron filings. This is structured, serious wine built to age. Stone secondary — the granite of Mauves runs through every vintage like a signature. The mineral expression here is what separates great Saint-Joseph from very good Côtes du Rhône.
Tasting note
Six vintages of Pierre Gonon Saint-Joseph — the most instructive vertical you can build in the Northern Rhône outside of Hermitage. Watch the fruit evolve, the tannin soften, the terroir assert itself more clearly with every year. This is what Syrah looks like when it's grown in granite by people who've farmed the same slopes for generations.
